Finding Your Voice

I began leading this popular workshop at The International Center of Photography in New York, and then brought it to the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops and the Minneapolis Photo Center. Now you can take this course from the comfort of your own home by joining me and your fellow students online. The class has proven to be extremely helpful and fun for many people over the years. As one participant said, “I went looking for my voice and found my choir.”

The Details

Are you interested in taking your photography to a new, more personal level? Do you want to open new doors to your work, but are not even sure where the doors are? I’m an experienced fine art/commercial photographer and teacher, and I love helping people progress with their personal vision. My name is Michael Crouser and I’ve taught Finding Your Voice as a Photographer to more than 150 people over the years.

Over five sessions, we’ll cover ten lessons with slide presentations covering composition, perspective, subject choice, light, equipment, color vs. black and white and others. We’ll look at the work of famous and established photographers who use these elements in specific ways to create a personal look and feel—their voice. So not only are you learning about concepts in photography but you’re also being exposed to photographers that you may find inspirational or influential to your work. All the while we are trying to hone your aesthetic tastes in an effort to begin making your pictures your own. There are two fun and challenging assignments each time we meet, and the following class we will review your work.

The Cost

$600 for 5 two-hour sessions. Class is offered for 2-5 people at a time. There is a lot of conversation in a calm and relaxed atmosphere. I look forward to meeting you and talking photography!
